Core Work: Compassion and Misson

Bottom-line: To be compassionately missional is the core of the Gospel, to be missionally compassionate is our expression of it.
God is compassionately missional: He is a God of mission & outreach, coming down from heaven in Jesus to live here on Earth, and alive through a Spirit that exists here among us. But, this is centered in Compassion – a willingness & desire to enter into the sufferings of others (ie. Us!) to bring healing & comfort. That is the core of the Gospel message.
God calls us to be missionally compassionate in our lives: When we are filled with the Spirit of God, we become people of God’s mission, as well. We are moved on mission beyond ourselves. But, this, too, is a mission of compassion: we go to enter into the sufferings of others to bring healing & comfort. That is the core of our how the Gospel is expressed in this world.
